Midnight Thursday, November 15 was record breaking for Fashion Nova. The highly anticipated FN X CARDI line was just released and fans worldwide raced to their computers and started buying. Fashion Nova is a company known for near designer quality clothes for a lower price and Cardi B's line was no exception with the highest price being $199.99. Fans of her know her love for Fashion Nova and the collaboration made perfect sense. Because of Cardi B's dedicated fan base, her line of 82 pieces sold out in 4 hours and is not expected to fully restock until 3 weeks from now. This was the fastest sell out for the company and Cardi has already announced she will have another line with the company next year.

Although this is far from the first time a musical artist has partnered with a retail company to make a fashion line, this particular collaboration has a big effect on both the music and fashion business. If you have kept up with Cardi B and Fashion Nova, you could argue Cardi has been instrumental in Fashion Nova's success. She constantly posts on social media about her love of the company and their reasonable pricing and Cardi's fans trust her judgement. I'll admit it, I was one of the fans that stayed up until midnight for the release of Cardi's Fashion Nova line and spent a little more than I'm proud of. But that's my exact point. If an artist has a large enough following and has established a relationship and a sense of trust with fans, they will buy anything with the artist's name on it. I can see more bigger artists making clothing lines with their favorite retailers and doing very well. But another factor that added into Cardi's success was the reasonable pricing. If another celebrity line is going to have the same success, the clothes have to be affordable. This will also add to the artist's music sales. I think these type of collaborations will be around forever because of the clear benefits both sides have.
