MelodyVR Teams Up With Post Malone, Macklemore & Wiz Khalifa for VR Concert Experiences

VR is the Future of Concerts

Everyone has experienced the "My favorite artist is on tour, but not coming to my town," feeling and its absolutely devastating to fans. Virtual reality is a new but growing technology and popular rappers Post Malone, Macklemore, and Wiz Khalifa have teamed up with MelodyVR to make virtual concerts for dedicated but separated fans. But these concerts are not free. MelodyVR will start selling virtual tickets for international shows for fans within the next few months.

I believe that this is a very interesting step for live music. Personally, I can't think of anything that makes me happier than going to concerts and being immersed with the crowd. I love the feeling of being a part of the show my favorite artist is performing. That's one of the main reasons I'm studying music business; my passion for music and being involved of something bigger than me. The virtual reality takes away that immersion. If i want to see my favorite artist perform on a screen, I can go to Youtube and find plenty of free videos from past concerts. However, the social aspect of a concert gives some people anxiety. This is a great move for people who love music but can't deal with crowds or have a social disorder. They can get a pretty good concert experience right from their living room. MelodyVR also gives users the option of where they want to be in the concert, even an on stage perspective.

This has a huge impact in the future of the music business. It's not only a new way for the music industry to profit off of fans, but it's a whole new market. In the future, there may be some shows where there aren't actually people in person but they're all using VR to experience the concert. Now artists won't have to as heavy of tour schedules trying to reach every city but now they can just pick their favorites and encourage fans to use virtual reality to tune in. The possibilities with this new development are endless.
