When you hear "Panic! at the Disco," you probably think of the 2006 hit "I write sins, not tragedies" and not anything current. The band came into the scene as an early 2000s iconic pop punk band and have evolved through the year, changing their sound accordingly with the times. Their most recent album, Pray for the Wicked, has produced a few hits, but the one that stands out is "High Hopes." The song has been dominating the adult pop chart at #1 for 15 weeks in a row. Panic! has never had a number 1 hit before "High Hopes," but at this rate, plan to see them on the charts for a while.

This has a direct effect on the music industry. When an artist that is not typically making hits gets #1, its a big deal. Many people don't associate Panic! at the disco with #1 adult pop hits. Since people are listening to this song and liking it, they will go and discover more Panic! songs and buy/ stream their albums. This is amazing and well deserved publicity for Panic! and if people keep listening like they are to "High Hopes," there will me much more chart domination to come from them.
